Coinflip: 1,800 ATMs in the USA now also offer DOGE

In the US, you can now buy Dogecoin through Coinflip ATMs in 45 out of 50 US states.

The famous meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE) is now available at 1,800 ATMs in the United States.

Leading bitcoin ATM provider Coinflip announced on 1 March that it now supports Dogecoin. The company’s CEO and co-founder Daniel Polotsky explained that the reason for the move was Crypto Investor the „popularity and recent mass adoption of DOGE“.

On 4 February, the cryptocurrency’s price rose by 25 per cent within a few minutes after Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk posted a rocket flying to the moon. To this he simply commented the word „doge“.

He posted a poll asking whether Dogecoin would be Earth’s future currency. 71.3 percent of the 2.4 million respondents answered „yes“.

NBA team Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban also weighed in on 8 February, telling Forbes that the attention the meme coin is attracting is „not a bad thing“ for the industry.

„With DOGE you have a better chance of winning than with a lottery ticket. At the same time, you learn about the economics of supply and demand and cryptocurrencies,“ Cuban said. „I love it because it really is the most cost-effective economic teaching tool there is. At the same time, it’s entertaining.“

Within the first two weeks in February, the cryptocurrency’s price rose nearly 200 per cent, from US$0.03 to just under US$0.09. Since then, it has slowly consolidated at around US$0.05.

Some users believe that Dogecoins‘ rise was not entirely organic. In fact, it rose by 85 per cent, which can be attributed to the Reddit group /WallStreetBets. On 1 February, Kiss frontman Gene Simmons told Twitter that he wanted to buy this cryptocurrency, among others. This led to an increase of another 40 percent within 24 hours.

Coinflip has seen a surge in demand over the past 12 months. Sales have more than tripled year-on-year as the company has now installed a total of around 1,800 ATMs since January 2020. Coinflip ATMs can be found in 45 of the 50 states in the US.
